Princess Ariel from The little mermaid falls in love with a human prince and decides to trade her biggest value; her voice, for a pair of human legs. She abounds her father, sisters and her life in order to get her love, a simple stranger.
Ariel: “It’s okay to abandon your family, drastically change your body, and give up your strongest talent in order to get your man. Once he sees your pretty face, only a witch’s spell could draw his eyes away from you.”
So what does Disney show here? That it is okay to leave your loving family and change everything for a simple stranger.
Another thing is a song by Ursula, The Unfortunate Souls:
“The men up there don’t like a lot of blabber
They think a girl who gossips is a bore
Yes, on land it’s much preferred
For ladies not to say a word”
so this enhances the idea of females just being a sexual object with nothing important to say.
Here’s a parody of Ariel – Quite informing
